COST Member Countries and Cooperating State

(and related researchers) can participate in COST Actions once they have accepted the relevant MoUs of the concerned Actions.

Participating COST Countries refer to COST Countries or Cooperating State which have accepted the Action’s MoU. COST’s 35 Member Countries are: Austria, Belgium, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Bulgaria, Croatia, Cyprus, Czech Republic, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Iceland, Ireland, Italy, Latvia, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Malta, The Netherlands, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Serbia, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, Turkey, United Kingdom and the former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia. COST Cooperating State is Israel.

How can you join?

Before 15/05/2014: Please contact your respective COST National Coordinator (CNC) in order to join the Management Committee (MC) of the COST Action.  You can find the name and contact details of your CNC on the COST website. The CNCs are the only actors who can launch the participation of the respective country in the Action and will officially nominate up to two representatives of the country as Management Committee Members (plus substitute members).

After 15/05/2014: The Action is open for COST countries to join unconditionally until 15/05/2014, after which new members can join only after the approval of the MC. Please contact the Chair of the Action, Dr. Sarah Gabriël, sgabriel@itg.be.

Other Countries/Organisations/Institutions

COST Near Neighbours Countries (NNC) are countries approved by the CSO (The Committee of Senior Officials) to benefit from dedicated support for the integration of their researchers in COST activities. COST Near Neighbour Countries include Albania, Algeria, Armenia, Azerbaijan, Belarus, Egypt, Georgia, Jordan, Lebanon, Libya, Moldova, Montenegro, Morocco, the Palestinian Authority, Russia, Syria, Tunisia and Ukraine. NNC approved institution is an institution located in a NNC whose participation to an Action has been approved in accordance with the relevant COST rules (refer to Annex II and COST Doc 4115/13).

Specific Organisations refer to the European Commission, other EU Institutions and EU Agencies, European RTD Organisations and International Organisations (refer to Annex II and COST Doc 4115/13).

Approved Specific Organisations refers to a Specific Organisation whose participation to an Action has been approved in accordance with the relevant COST rules (refer to Annex II and COST Doc 4115/13).

International Partners Countries (IPC) means all those countries that are neither COST Member Countries, nor Cooperating State nor COST NNC (refer to Annex II and COST Doc 4115/13).

IPC approved institution is an institution located in an IPC whose participation to an Action has been approved in accordance with the relevant COST rules (refer to Annex II and COST Doc 4115/13). Specific rules apply to Reciprocal Agreements Countries as defined in section 6)
